The Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana earns STAR Program® Certification
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana is announcing the delivery of first-rate cancer rehab services to survivors, thanks to earning STAR Program® Certification.
The Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana announced today that it has earned its STAR Program® Certification from the Massachusetts-based Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care. The Cancer Center of Indiana is leading the way by offering excellent cancer rehabilitation services to its patients through becoming STAR Program Certified.
STAR Program Certification uniquely qualifies facilities like The Cancer Center of Indiana to offer premium Oncology Rehabilitation Services to survivors who suffer from debilitating side effects, caused by treatments
To receive its certification, The Cancer Center of Indiana executed Oncology Rehab Partner’s unparalleled STAR Program Certification, a conventional medicine and evidence-based standardized model of oncology rehabilitation service delivery, successfully implementing the program’s evaluation and treatment protocols and rehabilitation training. These services are covered by health insurance providers and will be offered to patients by a knowledgeable and sensitive medical staff that is specially trained to work with survivors of all forms of cancer.
Specialty caregivers from a pool of disciplines-including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dieticians, mental health professionals, etc.-will work together with each patient on a personalized rehabilitation plan to increase strength and energy, alleviate pain, and improve daily function and quality of life.
“Going through cancer treatments is hard—and the lasting physical effects can make it that much worse,” said Cancer Center of Indiana board certified medical oncologist Ajay Kandra, MD. “Achieving STAR Program certification allows us to offer our patients an opportunity to do more than just survive after cancer. We want to ensure that they thrive after cancer, and this program will help our patients do just that.”
STAR Program Certification from Oncology Rehab Partners provides hospitals and cancer centers with the tools needed to quickly and effectively implement an exceptional survivorship care plan.
Oncology Rehab Partners co-founder Julie Silver, MD, associate professor at Harvard Medical School, and herself a cancer survivor, “Floyd Memorial Cancer Center is the first STAR Program in Southern Indiana and has embraced cancer rehabilitation as a critical part of cancer care. By becoming STAR Program Certified, Floyd Memorial Cancer Center is helping to close the gap in care.”
