Julie K. Silver, MD is a Co-Founder of Oncology Rehab Partners. She is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as a breast cancer survivor. Following her acute treatment for cancer in 2003, Dr. Silver realized there was a large gap in helping survivors to heal as well as possible from toxic cancer therapies. In an effort to promote understanding of the healing process and to help survivors function at the highest possible level, she wrote the book After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better Stronger (Johns Hopkins Press), which offers a step-by-step plan for physical healing from cancer treatment. Cure magazine, in its review, stated, “This is one you need… I like that she understands.” And Library Journal named After Cancer Treatment one of the top 20 health books released in 2006.
Dr. Silver has published extensively in the area of oncology rehabilitation and cancer survivorship. She is on the medical staff at Massachusetts General, Brigham and Womens, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts. She has also been a member of the medical staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she worked in the Lance Armstrong Foundation Survivorship Clinic.
As a doctor specializing in rehabilitation medicine (a physiatrist), Dr. Silver is uniquely qualified and extremely committed to promoting and developing superior oncology rehabilitation services for cancer survivors. She has lectured extensively to healthcare providers around the world about the need to create survivorship as a distinct phase of cancer care, which includes oncology rehabilitation services.
